North Downs Pony Club Events Reviews 2009
Hello and
welcome to all the regulars and many newcomers to the NDPC. As we should all know by now. The NDPC facilities are open all year round, with a few days prior notice. Andy and his girls will usually be most accommodating whenever possible.
26th September 2009
Pims, Polo, Doghnuts & Muffin.
There where a few other bits in the middle as well but they are hardly worth mentioning. Apart from my team beating Daves team quite significantly despite there ncheating and underhand methods. Yes my pony inadvertantly ran us over there goalie (yes i know you dont have goalies in polo but work with me on this one ok ?) Any way . one goal keeper with a poultry chafing was a mere nothingness compared the our newbie cpl who who suffered i minor collapsed lung and a widening of the mouth with some over zealouse tugging on the rieghns. Whilst our team members where recieving first aid and tack adjustments the game continued . Wisely (i thought) my goalie chose to play rush goal tactics . Shes a big gierl so it worked well. This erked the oposition somewhat and prompted one member of the equine oposition to engage in the most dreadful cheating ever seen on any playing field outside of Argentina. Treading on the ball and kicking the bloody thing from half way down the field?
Just not polo old girl.
After the madness of the Polo, wounds where dressed . the sun was duly worshipped on Andies fantastic new patio (way posh)The afore mentioned Pims was duly dispensed and thouroughly enjoyed by all. Two of our wonderful member offered prizes for #best dressed = the bloody cheat? #2 hardest working and most indominatble = the stunningly beautiful newbie with the wider mouth and collapsed lung lol. just as the ladies where suitably composed and soaking up the rays Eter stage left. MUFFIN a welcome addition to our fold with his full western saddle all rejoiced in watching the ladies taking turns in being conveyed round the ground on muffins back astride his lavishly fury saddle. (cant think why they queue up bare assed to have a ride?)
So yes . my new pony and i spent a splendid night at XS on friday . camped over in our cathedral like tent and awoke on saterday to torential sunshine and a fine day ahead of us. This is it for this year. dont miss out next year. Andie and his girls have worked hard to make this venue about the best you will find in the uk. Sir Ian has kept the woodland track in tip top condition and Andy is adding to it. We will be backnext year with more dedication and infinately more madness.
Take care one and all

North Downs Pony Club August 1st 2009 - jumping is good
NDPC Risk assessment = off the scale It is fair to say that this event had its fair share of mechanical hiccups, as fortune would have it we suffered no personal injury to man or beast. This is not including of course the bruising of my bum and my ego as my sulky became a Herby and split in two. Once again I fail to see the humour in my personal traumatic brush with death at the hooves of the two magnificent pony's whose brute strength alone wrent my sulky asunder. Anybody who tells you it was down to my welding is entirely misguided.
As for all the usual requirements that go to making up these events. We had the M25 closed north of the river. We had the threat of rain. Yet despite this two of my good friends and travellers made it from oop north across the Woolwich ferry to join us for a few hours of hot dry play. By the mid afternoon I had 5 texts to say people could not make it for one reason or another. Given that most of these where cpls. I will leave you to do the maths. What we did end up with was by far the most fun event I think I can personally recall in the history of the club. Billed as THICKSTEAD by one of our regular pony's (yes a pony with whit) it lived up to its name to the tee. We had a jump off as the first event with real proper grown up jumps. One particular stallion will be hobbled or shot if he drags me round the course like a butcher's dog stealing sausages again. A job for Sir Ian and his gun I feel?
The jousting went off as usual with great hilarity and minimal cheating. This could not be said however for trainer and pony that chose to cut a swathe through the tea party under a shady tree thus adding a good few seconds ONTO there time. Yet still coming in first on the second run. Practice huh? It is my duty to impart details of yet another mechanical breakdown of epic proportions. This time not in the paddock where assistance and repair could be made available post haste. No this misshape occurred on the dense woodland path. Making helicopter access impossible. We are to far from any navigable river to make a nautical rescue viable. So the only alternative short of bringing in the marines. Was to carry SIR IAN's broken sulky out by hand. God it was hell. I would have helped but my bum hurt.
All in all as far as I could see and tell. The 18 revellers that survived the Motorway system had a fantastic time. Old faces welcomed new and made firm friends on a whinny and a handshake. I know the NDPC will go from strength to strength if we keep up this level of enthusiasm and pride in what we offer.
Oh yes and there was a useless muddy flee ridden poodle there as well. It's fair to say she is very very beautiful but couldn't catch a rabbit if she had a walk on part in watership down.
So once again. We at the NDPC thank you all for coming. And to remind everybody. This would not happen where it not for Andy and his girls.
Take care all and see you soon Trainer Bryan and the NDPC crew
Saturday 30th May 2009
Well once again I have left this a little late in the day as is my manner. So here goes. Part 1 - 30th May heralds the beginning of the 2009 outdoor season at the NDPC grounds in Kent. Please try and remember that this is a bank holiday week so bring some waterproofs. As usual our wonderful host Andy and his lovely ladies will be providing hot and cold food and beverages at the bar in the spacious and welcoming clubhouse. The day will be run in the similar mode of all our other events. Ergo’ splendid chaos. Our newly extended and wonderfully widened track (thanks to quad-man yayyy!!) was a riot of bluebells and a truly heart lifting sight when I saw it a week or two ago. I fear we may lose most of the bluebells by the 30th but the woods will always be a place of wonder and deep joy. We are hoping for a bumper turn out (don’t let me down I feel I right pillock otherwise grrrr) with oodles of fun games and general silliness afoot ahoof & apaw. This years special attraction is to be a real live rabbit hunt for all the puppies that turn up (work it out for yourselves) plus our usual games and the now famous and scary time trial. No door ways and stair wells this time for all my old indoor buddies lol.
The usual blurb now . The event is from 12.00 to 18.00
Entry fee is £20.00 per single £25 for couples
There is ample parking available. For those travelling by train we sometimes have a spare slave available to pick people up at Raynham station. Simply call 07742370997 and we will get someone out to pick you up.
As usual, camping is available overnight from Friday at £5.00 per head based on two sharing.
Well that’s about it. We look forward to seeing your all there.

Thursday March the 26th 2009
A day I will remember well, simply because I had my roots done. Well not me exactly. For those of you who are regulars or even occasional visitors to the NDPC. You will have noticed two things. The original track, whilst lovely, was full of ankle twisting sulky bending roots. Some as big as a bungalow. Also. we had cut out another sizable length of track to form well over a third of a mile of undulating path. However we never really got round to making the new section serviceable. A quick call to my now rather good mate AKA “quad man” and we where away like two men in the woods with a quad? And a winch... a spade... and a mattock (not a welsh actress I might add). So, after 6 hours of grunting and groaning, mattocking and spading, winching and quadding. the end result is thus: a really rather splendid rootless long winding track. A majority of witch is new track perfectly capable of taking two sulkies abreast, quite comfortably affording us the madness of possible head to heads? The top end needs some heavy footed pony’s or rolling puppies to level out the odd lump here and there but it’s definitely a place of infinite beauty and endless pleasure. I have however lost the use of my lower vertebrae for the foreseeable future but its all for a good cause.
Take care all you lovely pets, trainers, grooms and what have you. See you all soon.

THIS WAS A GREAT DAY OUT LAST YEAR
20 September 2008
The End of Summer Pony Puppy show is fast approaching, therefore I will take this opportunity to remind you all that our facilities are still among the finest available in the UK. The vast woodland areas and open spaces offer ample opportunity for the outdoor play enthusiasts with lots of lovely places to dangle / restrain or generally use and abuse a sub or two. The food is still piping hot (it is an English summer after all lol) hot and cold drinks still flow in abundance from the amply stocked bar and kettles.
It's also a Saturday so that means its Adult party night at the DV8 club after the show. So for those with a bit of a distance to travel, remember you can camp overnight for only £5.00 (based on 2 sharing) or enjoy the reasonably priced Travel Lodge at the end of the road. This way you get a great day of outdoor play. Followed by some of the finest adult hospitality in the south.
This show promises even more beautiful Mistresses and Fem Dom /Trainers (at last I hear you pony boys sigh?)
So polish your hooves and paws, untangle your ropes. Break out your whips and canes & wend your merry ways down to the NDPC for another cracking day out.
Entry is £20.00 singles and £25.00 for cpls. If you are likely to be held up in traffic or are worried about the local weather CALL 07742370997 for confirmation.
See you all there.

April 26th 2008
Well what can I say? Our first event of 2008 was met with torrential sunshine. So much so that we simply did not have the energy or time to complete all the listed activities of the day. However the several we did complete under the blazing Kent sunshine where enjoyed immensely by competitors and spectators alike. Actual proper Jousting with real lances, and blindfold agility around the traffic cones on permanent loan from Kent county council for the event lol. Due to all the hoo haa over the Images law, we don't have quite as many Photos as usual . But lets give a great big cheer to the two lovely ponies that volunteered there beautiful visages for this page.
Luv'em right up .
October 27th 2007
The Round Up. What a convenient name for an end of year Pony Pet fest. "end of year round up". See what did there? Well once again the sun shone but a chill wind blew. This however did not stop a good crowd of intrepid fet friends from many walks of pervery turning up this time. One of my girls was cruelly whipped whilst dangling from a tree. Ok ok I set it up. She was getting a bit haughty. And two lovely new friends turned up in rubber and squeaky stuff - way cool! So lots of disorganised ponies and cart pulling. One stampede and a whole lot of fun again. Thanks again to the DV8 crew for the bar the hot drinks and the lovely food.
24th August 2007
Well the 24th of August 2007 saw the North Downs Pony Clubs first ever show at DV8. And what a success it was. Ponies, Puppies, Groom, Owners and Handlers from far and wide attended in numbers we could only have dreamed of. From as far afield as France and even Greece they came. As one they left with a smile and memories of two great days of outdoor Pony Puppy play. We met up with old friends and of course made many new. All of us looking forward to the next event. So Trainer Bryan is beavering away as this is being written, planning the next show. See you all there.
